About TEDx, x=independently organized event
In the spirit of ideas worth spreading, TEDx is a program of local, self organized events that bring people together to share a TED-like experience. At a TEDx event, TEDTalks video and live speakers combine to spark deep discussion and connection in a small group. These local, self-organized events are branded TEDx, where x=independently organized TED event. The TED Conference provides general guidance for the TEDx program, but individual TEDx events are self-organized.

About TEDxAthens
TEDxAthens seeks to develop and leverage the TED experience at a regional level, bringing together innovators and inspirational speakers in Athens, Greece. TEDxAthens was developed by “TEDx-ster” Dimitris Kalavros-Gousiou. The TEDxAthens Organizing Committee includes: Maria Kokidou, Hana Hasanbegovic, Manolis Polychronides, Aristotelis Sobotis, Ioannis Karavas, Marineta Kritikou and Anestis Chatzidiakos.

kalavrosDimitris G. Kalavros-Gousiou | TEDxAthens Curator
Dimitris Kalavros-Gousiou is an entrepreneur, trainee lawyer and the Curator of TEDxAthens, who splits his time between London, UK and Athens, Greece.

Dimitris is a Kent Law School graduate and also the founder and Head Editor of Away.gr, the first greek weblog which covers webstartups in the country. As of May 2009 he works as a trainee lawyer in G.-E. F. Kalavros and Partners Law Firm, while he continues his studies at Queen Mary University of London.

sobotis2Aristotelis Sobotis | Marketing Director

Aristotelis has studied British & American Drama, Acting, Arts Marketing,Public Relations and Music. He has been involved in a variety of activities,from running theatrical productions and composing music to marketing non-profit arts organizations as well as commercial organizations. His love for innovation and technology led him to Amy SA, where he is currently the Marketing Communications Mgr for software. He loves meeting people, sharing knowledge and ideas, and learning new things.

maria_bMaria Kokidou | Communications Coordinator
Maria is a fan of TED and every innovating idea. Her studies in Media, Communication and New Technologies led her to work as a technical editor in a few leading technological magazines. Today she is the Editor in Chief of the Greek edition of PC Magazine.

hana_borderHana Hasanbegovic | Production Supervisor
Hana is the Marketing Manager of Datalex S.A., one of the leading Greek IT distributor companies. Hana earned her BSc in Business Administration from the American College of Greece Deree in June 2007 and has since then been actively involved in the business areas of Marketing, Project and Event Management. She joined TEDxAthens team with the purpose of bringing together elements of event organization, production and promotion.

PolichronidesManolis Polychronides | Public Speaking Coach
Manolis is a University of Athens’ PhD candidate on Political Science and a rhetoric trainer, specializing in debating. He participates as a volunteer on activities related with human rights, with the promotion of rhetoric in education, with international hospitality, with the organization of rhetoric events, while from this year he (re)started scuba diving and inline skating. He is a regular commentator and a volunteer translator at TED.com

Anestis Chatzidiakos is a Undergraduate Computer Science student at Aristotle’s University in Thessaloniki, at “Networks, Communications and Systems’ Architecture” field, since 2004. He is working on several online projects, and he is a technology news editors at Away.gr, since 2006.

Ioannis Karavas is a Undergraduate Information Management Student at the Technological Educational Institution of Kavala. He is currently affiliated with several online projects, and he is a technology news editor at Away.gr. He is a strong supporter of Social Media and TED talks.

directorMarineta Kritikou aka M.A.K. | Director, Film + Video

Marineta is a multimedia director, specializing in documentaries. She studied Contemporary History, Journalism and Film in Paris and pursued Post Graduated studies in Scriptwriting at the Sorbonne. She also studied Film & Television at UCLA,California. For the last few years she has been living and working in Greece as a Director on TV Programs, Documentaries, Films and Commercials. Her documentary Dreaming of Zhejiang is the only greek participation at the first ever PangeaDay, a TED Prize Event held in May 2008 in Los Angeles.

She is member of the Pangeaday Filmmakers Community believing strongly in the intercultural dialogue and its force. She is currently working on her next documentary Living in Sacred Islands and she is teaching Cinema at the Faculty of Arts, Film Studies of Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.

    It is possible to fill a blank?
